First Vaccination
So he had his first vaccinations today. One oral vaccine and three administered by needle. Poor baby hated the needles, as was expected. He was understandably upset and he most certainly needed calming, but being the easy baby that he is, he was chilling a minute later. We packed up and after I asked all possible medical question there was pertaining to his vaccinations, plus more medical questions pertaining to baby care in general, I asked the nurse for freebies (Infant Tylenol, rash ointment, and a bunch of Enfamil) and we headed on our way.
One of the possible side-effects of these vaccinations is a fever. Patrick’s temperature was a little elevated, and hubby and I stayed home to make sure he didn’t get sicker. He seemed to have some discomfort around the area of his vaccinations and he did have several good cries for reasons unknown, but he settled down completely after he was fed a bit and played with on his papasan. When we swung him into the Baby Bjorn, he finally fell asleep.
Apparently, Patrick is a strong baby and he weathered his vaccinations in a relatively calm way. 2nd dose of vaccinations has been scheduled for May. Hopefully, he stays as calm then as he did today.
